Socio-economic phenomena

With the availability of data on social interactions we begin to understand social systems as an experimental science with levels of precision that we know from the natural sciences.

Our main research questions

How can we use Big Data to understand the homo sapiens and its social systems?

Are there laws behind the ways people organize in groups and societies? Are these laws optimal? If yes in what sense?

How do people form their local social networks?

How is performance associated to the social networks we build?

To what extent can human behavior be predicted?

How can we ensure that democratic opinion formation is fair? How can we detect election fraud?

Can we simulate the economy of an entire country at a scale 1:1? Can we use this to make better predictions of policy interventions, economic growth, and consequences of environmental change?
