The current digital revolution is shaping our society, producing new possibilities as well as new threats. This revolution is being driven by a confluence of new technologies, including social media, Big Data, the Internet of Things, and Artificial Intelligence. Such technologies are empowering individuals and organizations in ways that were unimaginable just a few years ago. They do, however, also introduce new risks and vulnerabilities and must be managed well. Hence, socio-technical innovation is urgently needed. In this connection, open-source technologies, participatory approaches, and new forms of governance are becoming more popular and relevant. The goal of our workshop is to discuss new research directions, and share experiences, diverse perspectives, and ideas on related subjects, particularly on how to address the pressing challenges ahead of us.
This workshop is jointly organized by ETH Zurich and Complexity Science Hub Vienna
