Title: How Urban Infrastructure Can Change Human Health and Mental Health Outcomes
Abstract:
As a journalist-in-residence at Complexity Science Hub, I will spend three months unearthing stories that show us both historical and future-facing models of how human well-being is intertwined with the built environments we call home. Part of what drew me to study this here is Vienna’s rich history of the avant-garde, and its revolutionary social housing movements of the 1920s. But as urban populations swell, and an increasing majority of the earth’s people settle in denser and denser cities, what will, or should, a revolutionary urban infrastructure movement look like today that will get our species safely, happily, and healthily to the year 2100?
