Traders buying or selling an asset receive price if another party observing their order jumps in front of them, i.e., front-running. These kinds of attacks are prevalent in decentralized finance. We will present a characterization of such attacks and discuss possible solutions and their feasibility.
Bio:
Lioba Heimbach is a second-year Ph.D. student advised by Prof. Dr. Roger Wattenhofer in the Distributed Computing (Disco) group at ETH Zurich. Her current research focuses on Decentralized Finance (DeFi). She is particularly interested in enhancing the understanding of the current DeFi landscape in terms of market fairness and market efficiency.
Lioba Heimbach completed both her B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering and Information Technology at ETH Zurich. During her M.Sc., she spent a semester abroad at the Chinese University of Hong Kong.
