Recently a general modeling framework Integrating material, social and cognitive forces in social evolution has been developed (Gavrilets 2021). Some of its aspects have been tested in behavioral experiments (Tverskoi et al, 2022a, 2022b). I will describe its application to several important topics: 1) emergence of food sharing in small-scale societies, 2) effects of revolutionary leadership and government propaganda on social unrest, 3) the spread of technological innovations, and 4) the effects of social identity on cooperation.
