Somdatta Sinha (IISER Kolkata & IISER Mohali) will present a talk on Tuesday, June 27th, 2023 at 3 PM.
Title: Understanding Protein Structure-Function: A Complex Network View
Abstract: This talk aims to elucidate functional variations in proteins and their mutants that have no significant overall difference in their three-dimensional structures, using the complex network theory.
Bio: Prof. Somdatta Sinha is one of the earliest to start working on nonlinear dynamics and complex systems in India in 1970-80s. She is a Fellow of all three Science Academies of India and has been associated with the Santa Fe Institute USA, Wissenschaftskolleg at Berlin Germany, and Peter Walls Institute of Advanced Studies UBC Canada. Her theoretical studies of biological systems range from genome analysis to epidemiology.
