>Agenda for the Workshop<
The dynamics of innovation and its complement obsolescence are of universal interest in complex systems, but often these terms masquerade for properties or processes that are field-specific. In this workshop, we aim to explore conceptual, mechanistic, and ontological overlap between studies of innovation and obsolescence between fields. In particular, we hope to spur interdisciplinary scientific collaborations to connect work that is occurring in segregation.
The goal of the working group is to address the following questions from several perspectives:
1. What are generalizable aspects of innovation and obsolescence across fields?
2. What aspects are untranslatable?
3. Are there transferable lessons for modulating innovation and obsolescence from one discipline to another?
