This internal workshop is organized by CSH researcher Maria del Rio Chanona and will take place from March 7–9, 2022 at the Hub.
Abstract:
In April 2021, many US Americans quit their job and not returned to workforce at a historic rate. Similar trends have been observed in Europe, and this phenomenon has received the name of “The Great Resignation”. Several hypotheses have been suggested to explain this phenomena, including a change in priorities of workers towards mental health, rise in start-ups and self employment, as well as reorientation towards more meaningful jobs. The Great Resignation is a recent and ongoing event and little research has be done to understand the causes. In this workshop we propose to investigate the reasons behind the great resignation using data from social platforms.
