This workshop (supported by the CSH, the Santa Fe Institute SFI and Nanyang Technological University Singapore NTU) took place within the framework of the 2016 Conference on Complex Systems in Amsterdam, Netherlands (19–22 Sept).
Organizers: Stefan Thurner, Geoffrey B. West (SFI), J. Stephen Lansing (NTU)
Abstract:
The Santa Fe Institute is a leading institution in the science of complex systems. Since 30 years it pursues research in problems that matter in a unique and undogmatic way that has inspired a generation of researchers. Its mission is to understand and unify universal patterns that emerge at all scales in physical and living nature. Studied fields cover biological, social, cultural, economical and technological worlds.
In this workshop we want to present selected work of several scientists that are associated with the institute to present their views, opinions and concepts to make progress in understanding these new worlds. We would like the workshop to be of the style of a workshop held at the institute, open, highly interactive and deeply inspiring.
