High awards for the chair of the CSH Vienna
We happily and proudly announce that our dear friend Helga Nowotny, who had a leading role in the formation of the Hub and had been chairing the Hub’s Science Advisory Board ever since, is about to receive a Honorary Doctorate from University of Oxford and the Leibniz Medal of the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences in June 2018.
Additionally, Helga was invited to participate in the recent search committee chaired by the European Commission to nominate the future ERC President.

Helga Nowotny, a trained sociologist and jurist, has received numerous awards and honorary doctorates in the past, for instance from the Weizmann Institute of Science or from the Universities of Edinburgh, Bergen, Leuven, Lancaster, Twente and Lüneburg. She is a member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences and a fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, of the Royal Flemish Academy of Sciences of the Arts, the German Academy of Engineering Sciences acatech as well as a distinguished affiliated professor of the Technical University of Munich and Honorary Member of the Academy. In 2017, Helga was awarded the Gold Medal of the Academia Europaea and the British Academy President’s Medal.
