Birgit Dalheimer from OE1 talks with CSH President Stefan Thurner & ETH Professor Dirk Helbing
“Transparency is the gunpowder of the new enlightenment”, says CSH President Stefan Thurner in an interview with the Austrian National Public Radio Oe1 during the Alpbach Technology Symposium. He emphasizes that rational decisions can only be taken on the basis of transparency. Therefore, the objective of complexity research is the unveiling of facts hidden in a networked world. According to Thurner, today algorithms determine what is perceived as truth, and he compares Google to the Catholic Church before the enlightenment – an institution believing to hold the truth monopoly and manipulating the public perception of facts.
