Mobility changes in Austria in fall 2021

“Lockdown for the unvaccinated”

 

As corona cases in Austria were surging, the government imposed a lockdown for unvaccinated people on November 15, 2021.

 

Did this measure lead to mobility changes?

 

CSH researchers Peter Klimek and Georg Heiler analyzed various data sets (including aggregated and anonymised telecommunication data, processed in a GDPR compliant way). Find here the [German] Policy Brief “Mobilität in Österreich im Herbst 2021″.

Throughout the fall of 2021, we see a significant decline in mobility similar to that in 2020.

 

This decline varied in magnitude across individual states (the black dashed line shows the point in time when the “lockdown for the unvaccinated” became effective):
