Fraud Detection, Electorial
Even in mature democracies, elections often end in controversies related to allegations of fraud. Many of them cannot be resolved on the basis of traditional audits, such as the scrutiny of the vote counting. In these cases, election forensics provides a means for testing the legitimacy of an electoral outcome, which is based on the statistical consistency of the election data. We review two recently developed tools that lead to the so‐called election fingerprints.
