Ben Wagner

Former Researcher

Ben Wagner is an assistant professor and director of the Privacy & Sustainable Computing Lab at Vienna University of Economics and Business. He is also a member of the advisory group of the European Union Agency for Network and Information Security (ENISA).

Previously he has worked at the Technical University of Berlin, at Cambridge University, the University of Pennsylvania, and the European University Viadrina. He holds a PhD in political and social sciences from the European University Institute in Florence.

Ben’s research focuses on technology policy, human rights, and accountable information systems. He is an expert advisor to the European Parliament and the European Commission, the OSCE, the Council of Europe and UNESCO.

Ben has published three books and more than 50 articles. His work has been covered extensively by national and international media such as CNN, The Guardian, Bloomberg TV, Der Spiegel, ORF or SWR2.
