Claudia Wagner

Claudia Wagner, CSH External Faculty since Jan 2021, is a full professor for Applied Computational Social Science at RWTH Aachen University and the Scientific Director of the department Computational Social Science at GESIS—Leibniz Institute for the Social Sciences. Before that, she was professor for data science at the University Koblenz-Landau. She received her PhD from the Graz University of Technology in 2013.

Claudia’s research focuses on understanding socio-technical phenomena (e.g. inequality, sexism, perception bias) in algorithmically infused societies and the methodological challenges that arise when studying these phenomena empirically.

To date, Claudia has been awarded substantial research funding either as a PI or co-PI. She was awarded a DOC-fFORTE fellowship from the Austrian Academy of Sciences, and received four best paper awards at international conferences.
