Vienna University of Economics and Business & PostDoc at the CSH
Johannes Wachs is an assistant professor (non-tenure track) at the Institute for Information Business at the Vienna University of Economics and Business and has been a PostDoc at the Complexity Science Hub Vienna since April 2020.
Johannes obtained his PhD on the application of network methods to the study of corruption, supervised by Janos Kertesz at Central European University, in 2019. Before moving to Vienna, he was a PostDoc with Markus Strohmaier at RWTH Aachen. During his PhD, Johannes was a visiting researcher at the Oxford Internet Institute, the Hertie School of Governance, and the Hungarian Academy of Sciences.
Currently Johannes is studying how large groups of people work together online on platforms like GitHub and Stack Overflow. He is especially interested in applying the methods of complexity science and networks to understand how these communities grow and sustain themselves.
