Sabine Seidler

Sabine Seidler, Rector of TU Wien from 2011 until 2023, is Vice President of the Complexity Science Hub Vienna.

Born in Germany, Sabine Seidler studied materials science at the technical university Leuna-Merseburg. Her main research interests are in the field of polymer testing, fracture mechanics and structure-property correlations in polymers.

In 1996, Sabine Seidler moved to Vienna to work as professor at TU Wien, where she became vice-chancellor for research in 2007 and Rector of TU Wien in 2011. She is member of the Supervisory Board of the Helmholtz-Zentrum Berlin für Materialien und Energie GmbH. In 2014 she earned the H.F. Mark-Medal.
